  • Investing in the success of a business driving innovation and progress in the dahlia and cut flower community
  •

    OUR COMMITMENT TO HEALTHY DAHLIAS
At Coseytown Flowers we are fully inspected and licensed by the State of Pennsylvania for the production and distribution of plant materials and seed
. Our proactive management practices include disinfection using 10% bleach solution between every plant rotating snips. We have an expert’s eye and a ZERO tolerance policy for symptomatic plants. As a component of our disease management plan, our active pest management plan utilizes a variety of measures based on seasonal risk level with continual monitoring from first planting until final tuber harvest.

We test for common RNA and DNA dahlia viruses including TSWV, TSV, INSV, and DMV and make substantial costly recurring investments into ongoing proactive dahlia virus testing and research to create and utilize best practices in the responsible propagation of our plant stock. Recent investments into our virus testing and research program include 5-figures worth of direct cost investments exclusive of time, labor, and other indirect costs.

Meet Coseytown Peach Donut!  I have shared Peach Donut on Instagram a bit over the last few years and it seems to have quite a few fans already.

First, let's talk about the green center button. Does it go away? No, it does not. This is technically considered an open centered dahlia. However, this dahlia is very sloooow to produce pollen. That center button will say pollen-free for a long time making this an excellent cut flower candidate. For maximum vase life, harvest when the first back petals are starting to fully unfurl (see second photo as an example.)

Peach Donut's shining glory is her coloring. She begins the season a delightful peachy/pink and as the nights get cooler will deepen into a rosy pink. Peach Donut is not in the orange family, at least not on my farm.

Check out the product videos to get a sense of the great plant growth habit. Many of the side buds will elongate enough to produce cuttable stems of their own. This dahlia makes small tubers, but store well if they are mature. It easily roots from cuttings, but the cuttings sometimes don't make many tubers. I recommend storing the cutting tuber clumps unwashed and whole for the best winter storage outcome (ultimately, store any tubers using the system that works best for you.)

She's a favorite of mine and I hope finds a piece of your heart as well.
