Coseytown® Rosewood is prized on our farm for its rich color and durability as a cut flower dahlia. It’s warm and sophisticated soft red/coral color is calling out to all cut flower connoisseurs! Coseytown Rosewood bridges many color palettes, making this variety highly useful in your arrangements and designs.

Not content to rest on her looks, Coseytown Rosewood was made to be cut and cultivated. If you want… desire… dare I say…need a dahlia that just grows and produces blooms all season like its life depended on it, look no further! I grew Coseytown Rosewood and its full sibling side by side for years. They were nearly identical in color, and each was a lovely fully double dahlia bloom. I mention this because as a hybridizer my plant selection decisions are based on more than just beauty. It’s the sum of many traits, including the seemingly small things, or even traits that go undiscussed that can help determine the ‘better dahlia’.

As I evaluated Coseytown Rosewood and her sibling for bloom and tuber productivity, tolerance to environmental stress, vase life and more… hands down Coseytown Rosewood outperformed on every test in every season. Likewise, as I compared her to other released Coseytown dahlias, she proved herself to be a shining example of everything a Coseytown Cut Flower dahlia is.

After raising this beauty all the way from seed to release and getting to know her beautiful ways season after season, I really appreciate the finer details she offers. Indeed, every day with Coseytown Rosewood is like watching art unfold right before your eyes!

LeeAnn's Hybridizer Notes - CT™ Rosewood

Growing for cut flower production:
CT Rosewood a mid-season bloomer that produces 4 to 5” blooms, and will continue to push buds and blooms until frost to keep up with your end of season cut flower demands. CT Rosewood is also a bloom you can harvest at an immature stage, when 3-5 layers of petals have opened, and it will continue to unfurl after harvest for extended vase life. This variety also holds exceptionally well in a cooler and will continue to develop once it is returned to room temperature.

CT Rosewood features a robust growth habit and will reward you for providing a little extra plant spacing, planting her around 14-16” apart. Her blooms will be larger, and she will appreciate the increased air movement throughout the season. Pinching the terminal bud 4-6 weeks into the season will signal the plant producing more lateral branches - which means MORE BLOOMS for you to harvest!

Tuber genetics really shine here too, like all the Coseytown dahlias you know and love. When you dig the root clumps in the fall you’ll be rewarded with numerous, well-eyed, great storing and pretty red tubers. Really - their color is an exquisite surprise!

Growing as a garden plant:
Follow normal early season plant maintenance and pinch the terminal bud at 4-6 weeks. You want to have a minimum of 4 leaf sets remaining to encourage low, strong branching. CT Rosewood produces a multitude of blooms, so providing extra support will maintain the integrity of the plant even on the windiest and rainiest days. CT Rosewood is a cut and come again dahlia, so don’t be shy about harvesting blooms weekly, as she will repay you with even more blooms.

Growing amazing dahlias starts from having a great foundation. Genuine Coseytown® dahlia tubers are a smart investment that will reward you for years to come.

First we breed and select our cultivars for strong traits, both above and below the ground. Then we grow them with love and sell them directly to you - exclusively right here - for you to grow in your own fields and gardens. Our dahlias grow healthy, vigorous and true to variety plants that produce abundant saleable blooms and grow additional tubers in one season. Mature tubers can be stored and replanted the next growing season, or left in the ground and overwintered in warmer climates. You could say we designed everything for your confidence and growing success from the ground up - from start to bloom!
