But after going off to college and landing in the corporate world, it seemed like my ‘farmer’ identity was going to be permanently relegated to trivia for sales meeting ice breakers.

Life has a way of reorienting itself though if you’re open to it. So, when I left the corporate world to start our family, my inability to sit still, an ambition to learn new things, and an ingrained entrepreneurial personality was just the kind of recipe for craziness - and eventual success – that led us to where we are today. ABOUT OUR DAHLIAS

The heartbeat of Coseytown Flowers is firmly rooted in developing the best possible dahlia cultivars for profitable cut flower production - Coseytown™ Cut Flower Dahlias. Our hybridization priorities have been shaped by our own experiences - and frustrations - as a cut flower farm in search of the best varieties to bring maximum impact to our operation and bottom line... and our enjoyment as dahlia enthusiasts too! 

Every Coseytown dahlia candidate begins its journey in our fields - and must earn its stripes over many seasons to keep its place there. To earn the distinction 'Coseytown Cut Flower Dahlia' a cultivar must demonstrate its ability to consistently meet or exceed expectations for our nine key Coseytown traits for maximum utility, productivity and profitability for cut flower production.

Every dahlia we sell originated on our farm and is grown for you with love by our small team. We pour ourselves into bringing our original Coseytown dahlia creations to you - and each one represents the culmination of this labor of love expressed through our heads, hearts, and hands. OUR COMMITMENT TO HEALTHY DAHLIAS

We believe that healthy stock produced responsibly is a core value to be pursued through intentional management. You are not only supporting the creation of some amazing dahlias with your patronage of Coseytown Flowers. You are also investing into a business dedicated to driving progress, innovation and thought leadership around vital topics including proactive dahlia health management, testing, and research to create and utilize best practices in the responsible propagation of our plant stock. At Coseytown Flowers:

  • We are fully inspected and licensed by the State of Pennsylvania for the production and distribution of plant materials and seed.

  • We have an expert’s eye and a zero tolerance policy for symptomatic plants, and we disinfect using 10% bleach solution between every plant rotating snips. Likewise for common virus vectors - our active pest management plan utilizes a variety of measures based on seasonal risk level, with continual monitoring from first planting until final tuber harvest.

  • We’ve been working with the amazing folks at Agdia since 2019 when we first reached out about getting their ImmunoStrip® virus diagnostic products validated for use in a new crop – dahlias!
  • We were the first business to implement and conduct onsite testing for common RNA viruses in dahlias as part of our proactive disease management program since 2020 (check out our talks here).

  • We implemented and have conducted onsite testing for common DNA viruses in dahlias (DMV/DCMV) as part of our proactive disease management program since 2023, utilizing Agdia's AmpliFire® isothermal fluorometer technology.

    ABOUT US

    Coseytown Flowers was founded by independent occupational American dahlia hybridizer, flower farmer, floriculture educator and entrepreneur LeeAnn Huber. Located among the gently rolling hills of Greencastle, PA, dahlias were a focal point for local cut flower sales even from from the beginning of our farm. Accordingly, it wasn’t long before LeeAnn began a hybridization program to cultivate and sell her own line of dahlias.

    With an agricultural heritage that spans many generations in the mid-Atlantic region, LeeAnn was raised on a beef cattle farm specializing in cattle breeding. LeeAnn graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Animal Sciences and International Agriculture before starting a successful career in Sales and Marketing. Following her promotion to motherhood, LeeAnn left the corporate world and formally incorporated Coseytown Flowers in 2015, turning a hobbyist’s daydream into a full-time enterprise.

    LeeAnn's husband Jeff graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Following many years of growth and evolution in the Coseytown business, in 2023 Jeff also transitioned out of his long-time engineering career to support the work of Coseytown Flowers full-time. Seeing the agricultural heritage present on both sides of their family reborn in their own family’s generation is, in their words, truly humbling and surreal. 

    The work of Coseytown Flowers would not be possible without the amazing support of the small team of women and working mothers who have joined along side us over many years - and continue to do so - in order to make it possible to bring more amazing dahlias to you.
