CT™ Dahlia Seed - Coseytown® Honey Pot
$15.95
Seed in our Coseytown Honey Pot Dahlia Seed Mix was collected from CT Honey Pot and was open pollinated amongst Coseytown bred fully-double dahlias. Nearby pollen parents were intentionally planted because of the tendency of their genetic lineage to produce high petal count seedlings. The inspiration for these pairings are to encourage higher petal counts on successive generations of Coseytown Honey Pot seedlings that hopefully feature her petaloids (mini petals within the larger petal). Results will always be a surprise, but by intentionally pushing the genetic possibilities in a certain direction, incremental shifts are possible and results can be very rewarding!
This product listing is for one packet of Coseytown® Premium Dahlia Seed mix containing 25 seeds (quantity 1 = one packet). All seeds were harvested from our own dahlia fields.
Dahlia seedlings bloom and make tubers in one growing season. You are experiencing a treasure to be explored in your garden when you grow dahlias from seed. Dahlia seeds DO NOT grow true to the parent variety and there are endless possibilities when growing dahlias from seed. Each seed is a surprise!
In our own trials, seeds from Coseytown Honey Pot have exhibited a tendency to germinate in about 6 to 9 days. Please note that while we select only the finest seeds for sale in each mix, dahlia germination rates are variable and germination rates for our mixes have not been determined in the lab. Following best practices will aid your success when growing dahlias from seed. See the section below entitled 'Growing From Seed' for more information (website only).

SEED STARTING BASICS
1) Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks prior to planting. Paper towel germination method recommended (see guide). DO NOT DIRECT SOW.
2) Harden seedlings off after last frost.
3) Plant seedlings with 4-5 leaf sets in the field. Follow date recommendations for your growing zone; a general rule of thumb is when you would plant out tomatoes - after your last frost and when soil temps are above 55°F.
