Coseytown™ Honey Pot
$34.95
Say hello to Coseytown Honey Pot! While there are gems to be found all over the world, you’ll only find this beaming ray of sunshine right here. I knew from the first time Coseytown Honey Pot bloomed that she was going to be very special.
Coseytown Honey Pot is a delightful, one-of-a-kind genetic wonder that defies easy classification - having not only three layers of ray florets -a classic example of a peony form- but also including contrasting petaloids in keeping with a collarette AND THEN crowning itself with the golden tubular disc florets of an anemone dahlia! As graceful as it is rare, Coseytown Honey Pot grows to 4’ tall and will proudly take center stage in any garden, producing long, gently flowing branches with an abundance of 2” blooms.
LeeAnn's Hybridizer Notes
This little wonder of a dahlia grew from seed sourced from Erin Benzakein of Floret Flower Farm in their very first public mixed dahlia seed offering! CT™ Honey Pot is my favorite variety when scouting for native pollinators, especially butterfly and moth species. I must wonder if she really does make nectar for pollinators to extract with their flexible straw-like mouthparts (also called proboscis). This plant will do well when grown with some support, such as a decorative obelisk trellis. While classified as a garden dahlia, blooms can be picked after the ray florets first open but before the anemone center fully develops for extended vase life. Do not fret though if these blooms remain on the plant as they will continue to look beautiful for a very long time. CT Honey Pot’s tubers store best in tubs packed with vermiculite and held around 90% humidity.
