Coseytown® Parasol

$35.95

∙ Cut Flower ∙ Beginner Friendly ∙

Serving as a refreshingly pleasant departure from the traditional, Coseytown Parasol beckons you to indulge yourself in a bloom like no other. Combining the softness of a blush with the uniqueness of a variegated dahlia, here is a celebration of color ready to fill your vases all summer long. At times her lavender hues are but pleasant suggestions, as if dabbed on by Monet’s own hand. At other times they are more densely distributed among the flower’s plethora of petals. What’s for certain is that Coseytown Parasol effortlessly captures and elevates the moments of serenity you enjoy each day while strolling through your field or garden.

LeeAnn's Hybridizer Notes - CT™ Parasol

Growing for cut flower production: CT Parasol is a delight to harvest cut flowers from. Enjoy an abundance of 3” blooms on long cuttable stems – all on a 5’ plant that routinely produces long, strong secondary stems. Harvesting at 1-2 leaf nodes will routinely return 18” long stems, leaving plenty of plant material for producing successive blooms throughout the season. If you miss the optimal harvest window on a central stem, no worries - the following week you can harvest its equally saleable side stems. How’s that for crop insurance!

CT Parasol maintains a strong upright growth habit with minimal branch spread. While, as a general practice, I do not disbud cut flower plants in my own field operations, if you do then you will be rewarded with much larger 4+ inch blooms. CT Parasol has lengthy leaf internodes which allow for excellent air movement. CT Parasol also produces a high yield of great storing, thick necked tubers for replanting and expanding next year’s field.

Growing as a garden plant: Support CT Parasol at planting time with a simple stake, and by mid-summer the stake will be completely hidden from view. If you want to try companion planting this dahlia with zinnias and purple basil (spaced at ~16”), you’ll have a ready-made recipe for cut flower bunches right at hand!
