As our second Fancy Single™ dahlia to be released, Coseytown Rockette is a new cut flower take on a dazzling single dahlia form - the collarette! So, what is a Fancy Single dahlia? They’re singles you can cut! Combining the flirty fun of open-centered dahlias with generations of successive breeding to realize all the cut flower traits you’ve come to expect in a Coseytown Cut Flower dahlia, Fancy Singles are a truly groundbreaking collection of form and traits.

Whether bloom productivity, plant strength, stamina under adverse field conditions, superb vase life or many other factors are being considered, I require every Fancy Single dahlia cultivar to meet the same high level of performance I require from our fully double Coseytown Cut Flower dahlias.

Coseytown Rockette is a fuss-free dahlia that gives you plenty of options for enjoyment in the field or garden. Coseytown Rockette generously produces an abundance of uniform blooms all season long. Likewise, the more you cut the more she blooms. No worries though if you’d prefer to leave her flowers on the plant, as she’s a continuous, self-cleaning bloomer that makes for a standout garden attraction that will keep you - and all your soon to be abundance of pollinators friends - coming back again and again!

LeeAnn's Hybridizer Notes - CT™ Rockette

Growing for cut flower production:
CT Rockette’s stem length is exceptional, and I commonly harvest primary and secondary blooms as separate stems. Stem strength is also exceptional, and her supple strength reminds me of willow twigs.

To enjoy some truly crazy long vase life, harvest CT Rockette at the ‘cracked bud’ stage. You’ll be able to identify this when the bud has fully matured and the first petal has started to unfurl. All the flower petals will continue to mature and delight you day after day in the vase.

Stems harvested at the cracked bud stage also store exceptionally well in a cooler. The bloom will hold in stasis until it returns to room temperature, at which point it will continue to open. Talk about versatility!

Growing as a garden plant:
CT Rockette is a plant that’s happy to adapt to your garden needs. Treat it like a cut flower plant - and enjoy flush after flush of new blooms. Or, if you want to just enjoy its ethereal beauty in the garden, as she dances in the breeze and welcomes a host of pollinators to your space, CT Rockette is more than happy to oblige. One special observation is the preference monarch butterflies have towards this variety in my own fields. I have hundreds of different dahlias growing, but I regularly find the highest concentration of monarchs on CT Rockette.

Follow normal early season plant maintenance and pinch the terminal bud at 4-6 weeks. You want to have a minimum of 4 leaf sets remaining to encourage low, strong branching.

Growing amazing dahlias starts from having a great foundation. Genuine Coseytown® dahlia tubers are a smart investment that will reward you for years to come.

First we breed and select our cultivars for strong traits, both above and below the ground. Then we grow them with love and sell them directly to you - exclusively right here - for you to grow in your own fields and gardens. Our dahlias grow healthy, vigorous and true to variety plants that produce abundant saleable blooms and grow additional tubers in one season. Mature tubers can be stored and replanted the next growing season, or left in the ground and overwintered in warmer climates. You could say we designed everything for your confidence and growing success from the ground up - from start to bloom!

Our cut flower breeding program has been shaped by our own experiences and frustrations as a cut flower farm in search of the best dahlia varieties to bring maximum impact to our operation and bottom line... and our enjoyment as dahlia enthusiasts too!

Every Coseytown dahlia candidate begins its journey in our fields - and must earn its stripes over many seasons to keep its place there. To earn the distinction 'Coseytown Cut Flower Dahlia' each new cultivar must demonstrate its ability to consistently meet or exceed expectations for the following nine key Coseytown traits for maximum utility, productivity and profitability for cut flower production: Vase Life, Stem Length, Stem Strength, Bloom Productivity, Blossom Orientation, Blossom Attachment, Plant Growth Habit, Tuber Productivity, Tuber Storability
