Coseytown Avonlea is ready to embark on an adventure to win your heart… but it won’t take long to fall in love with this romantically warm pink-mauve bloom. This ‘Perfect 10’ Coseytown Cut Flower dahlia proudly rejects ‘Diva Dahlia’ status. Whether utilized as a productive and profitable cut flower dahlia in your field or a dramatic addition to your garden, Coseytown Avonlea performs wonderfully, making her a true joy to grow. She’s not content to be just another pretty face either; featuring dark stems and a dense and lush leaf canopy, this plant is as beautiful as her blooms!

Coseytown Avonlea finishes out the season strong, maintaining excellent petal count through the end of the growing season. Bloom quality also remains excellent throughout the season, and the plant will continue to produce new buds and new growth even in hotter weather or the diminishing days of fall. Coseytown Avonlea’s colors gently shift in the fall from a deep pink-red-mauve into a delightful warm rosy peach.  So, will Coseytown Avonlea be the leading love interest or a supportive best friend in your next love story?

LeeAnn's Hybridizer Notes - CT™ Avonlea

Growing for cut flower production: CT Avonlea ranks a perfect 10 on all cut flower traits within the Coseytown Cut Flower hybridization program. The 5’ plant supports ample 4” blooms on exceptionally strong stems. Pinching the terminal bud 4-6 weeks into the season will signal the plant to produce more lateral branches - which means MORE BLOOMS for you to harvest! Blooms will continue to open a modest amount after harvest. Harvest flowers when ~5 layers of petals have opened for optimal vase life.

CT Avonlea’s color gently shifts in the fall from a deep pink-red-mauve into a warmer rosy peach (see product photos for a comparison). This plant’s dark green foliage has minute hairs on the lower leaf, repelling many pests that feed on dahlias. CT Avonlea produces ample, generously eyed, chunky tubers, making replanting next year a breeze.

Growing as a garden plant: Follow normal early season plant maintenance and pinch the terminal bud at 4-6 weeks. You want to have a minimum of 4 leaf sets remaining to encourage low, strong branching. This plant produces a multitude of blooms so providing support will maintain the integrity of the plant even on the windiest and rainiest days.

Our cut flower breeding program has been shaped by our own experiences and frustrations as a cut flower farm in search of the best dahlia varieties to bring maximum impact to our operation and bottom line... and our enjoyment as dahlia enthusiasts too!

Every Coseytown dahlia candidate begins its journey in our fields - and must earn its stripes over many seasons to keep its place there. To earn the distinction 'Coseytown Cut Flower Dahlia' each new cultivar must demonstrate its ability to consistently meet or exceed expectations for the following nine key Coseytown traits for maximum utility, productivity and profitability for cut flower production: Vase Life, Stem Length, Stem, Strength, Bloom Productivity, Blossom Orientation, Blossom Attachment, Plant Growth Habit, Tuber Productivity, Tuber Storability
